The Brave Tiger and the Wise Owl

[용감한 호랑이와 현명한 부엉이]

 

 

옛날 옛적에 깊은 숲 속에 한 동물이 살았습니다. 

Rajah라는 용감하고 교활한 호랑이. 그 라자는 정글의 왕이자 엄청난 발톱으로 통치했기 때문에 숲의 모든 생물들에게 두려움의 대상이었습니다.

어느 날 덤퍼라는 귀엽고 소심한 토끼가 호랑이 라자의 길을 건너왔습니다. 

토끼 Thumper는 가족을 위해 열매를 따고 있었는데 너무 늦을 때까지 호랑이를 보지 못했습니다.

호랑이 Rajah는 토끼를 보고 장난감처럼 먹이가 될 덤퍼를 갖고 놀기로 결정했습니다.

그는 토끼덤퍼를 놓아 주는척하고 한동안 그를 쫓아다녔습니다.

덤퍼는 심장이 북처럼 뛰면서 최대한 요리조리 빨리 달렸습니다. 

마침내 호랑이를 떨쳐냈을 때 그는 풀밭에 주저앉아 크게 울먹이며 헐떡였습니다. 



그런데 갑자기 뒤에서 목소리가 들렸습니다.

"괜찮아, 꼬마야?"

롤프라는 이름의 착하고 다정한 늑대였습니다. 

늑대 Rolf는 덤불에서 호랑이와 토끼가 하는행동들 모든 것을 보았고 토끼의 민첩성에 깊은 인상을 받았습니다. 

토끼Thumper는 늑대Rolf에게 호랑이Rajah와의 만남에 대해 이야기했고 늑대는 호랑이를 주시하겠다고 약속했습니다. 

그날부터 Thumper와 Rolf는 친구가 되었고 숲을 탐험하고 모험을 하며 하루를 보냈습니다.

한편 호랑이 Rajah는 숲에서 흔히 볼 수 있는 먹잇감에 싫증이 났습니다. 

그는 자신의 지배력을 증명할 더 큰 도전을 원했습니다. 



그는 숲에서 가장 위험한 동물인 그리즐리(Grizzly)라는 거대하고 사나운 곰을 쫓기로 결정했습니다.

결정하고 나서도 Rajah는 두려워하지 않았습니다.

 

 

 

그는 그리즐리 뒤에 몰래 다가가 덤벼들었습니다.

곰은 깜짝 놀랐지만 물러서지 않았습니다.

대신 그는 포효하며 라자를 향해 돌진했습니다.

 

그 둘은 몇 시간 동안 싸웠고 숲을 엉망으로 만들고 찢어발기고 파괴를 했습니다. 

다른 동물들은 끼어드는 것을 두려워하며 안전한 거리에서 지켜보았습니다. 

마침내 Rajah는 Grizzly의 목에 치명적인 일격을 가했고 곰은 생명을 잃은 채 땅에 쓰러졌습니다.

숲의 동물들은 Grizzly의 죽음을 애도하며 그의 용기를 절대 잊지 않겠다고 맹세했습니다. 

Thumper와 Rolf는 오랫동안 곰을 알고 있었기 때문에 특히 슬펐습니다. 

그들은 그리즐리를 위한 추도식을 열기로 했고, 숲의 모든 생물들을 초대해 추도식을 치르게 했습니다.

 

추도식을 준비하던 중 멀리서 큰 소동이 들렸습니다. 

의식을 방해하러 온 것은 라자였습니다. 

호랑이는 동물들이 자신이 쓰러뜨린 생물을 기리는 것에 화가 났고 누가 우두머리인지 보여주고 싶었습니다.

Thumper와 Rolf는 Rajah에게 벌떡 일어서 다가가 Grizzly는 영웅이며 받을 자격이 있다고 말했습니다. 

 

Rajah는 비웃으며 자신이 숲에서 가장 위험한 동물을 물리쳤기 때문에 진정한 영웅이라고 말했습니다.

동물들은 어떻게 해야 할지 몰라 서로를 바라보았습니다.

 

그때, Hootie라는 이름의 현명한 늙은 부엉이가 근처 나무에서 날아왔습니다. 

Hootie는 그의 지혜로 유명했고 동물들은 그에게 방법을 부탁했습니다. 

Hootie는 양측의 주장을 모두 듣고 나서 말했습니다.

"라자, 당신이 그리즐리를 물리쳤다고 해서 당신이 영웅이 되는 것은 아니다. 

진정한 영웅은 다른 사람을 보호하고 옳은 일을 하는 사람이다. 

그리즐리도 그런 영웅 중 하나였고, 오늘 당신에게 맞선 덤퍼와 롤프도 마찬가지다."

 

숲의 동물들은 후티의 말에 감명을 받아 서로 고개를 끄덕이기 시작했습니다. 

그러나 라자는 기쁘지 않았습니다. 

그는 이빨을 드러내고 허공중에다 짖었습니다. 

 

"나는 밀림의 왕이다, 존경을 요구한다!" 

 

그는 외쳤습니다.
하지만 영리한 후티는 굴하지 않았습니다.

 

"존경은 얻어야 하는 것이지, 요구하는 것이 아니다."

 

그는 차분하게 말했습니다.

 

"이 숲의 동물들의 존경을 얻고 싶다면, 그것에 인정받을만한 너의 행동들을 증명해야 한다."

라자는 주변을 둘러보며 자신의 가치를 증명할 방법을 찾고 있었습니다. 

그리고 그는 미소를 지을 무언가를 발견했습니다. 

그것은 "팡"이라는 악랄하고 잔인한 야생개 무리 대장이었습니다. 

라자는 팡과 싸움을 걸기로 결심했습니다. 

숲의 동물들은 그의 계획을 단념하라고 하면서 팡이 무자비한 살인자이며 그를 쓰러뜨릴 주먹 구실을 찾지 않을 것이라 경고했습니다. 

하지만 라자는 단호했습니다. 

그는 증명할 것이 있었고 그는 물러서지 않았습니다.

그래서 그는 팡의 영역으로 갔다가 그를 불렀습니다. 

팡은 어둠속 덤블 그림자에서 나타나며 사나운 빛이 빛나는 눈으로 라자를 바라봤습니다. 

 

"어떤 일인데, 호랑이야?" 

 

그가 물었습니다.

"나는 숲에서 가장 강한 동물임을 증명하고 싶다." 라자가 말했습니다. 

"그리고 너를 물리침으로써 그것을 하고 싶다."

 

팡은 웃었습니다. 

 

"너는 미친 것 같아, 이 호랑이야! 나는 이 무리의 최고 알파이며, 네 몸무게의 두 배 큰 동물들을 쓰러뜨렸다. 너는 살 수 없어."

하지만 라자는 두려워하지 않았습니다. 

그는 울부짖고 발톱을 내미며 팡에게 돌진했습니다. 

둘은 시간이 지나도록 싸웠고, 숲을 헤치고 괴롭히며 막 던지며 험악했습니다, 다른 동물들은 멀리서 안전한 거리에서 관전하면서 간섭하지 않았습니다.

결국, 호랑이 라자가 승리했습니다. 

그는 팡을 물리치고 숲에서 가장 강한 동물임을 증명했습니다. 

다른 동물들은 그가 자신의 영토로 걸어오며 자신의 머리를 높게 들고 걷는 것을 놀라움으로 바라보았습니다.

하지만 싸움에서 이긴 라자는 내면적으로 공허함을 느꼈습니다. 

그는 자신의 힘을 증명하는 데 집중해서 참된 영웅이 무엇인지 잊어버린 것을 깨달았습니다. 

그는 다른 동물들을 다치게하고, 많은 고통과 고통을 일으켰습니다.

그날 밤 그가 그의 굴에서 누워있을 때, 후티가 말한 것을 생각했습니다.

Once upon a time in the deep woods, there lived a brave and cunning tiger named Rajah. Rajah was feared by all the creatures of the forest, for he was the king of the jungle, and he ruled with an iron paw.

One day, a cute and timid rabbit named Thumper crossed Rajah's path. Thumper was gathering berries for his family, and he didn't see the tiger until it was too late. Rajah saw the rabbit and decided to play with his prey. He let Thumper go, but only after he had chased him around for a while.

Thumper ran as fast as he could, his heart beating like a drum. When he finally managed to shake off the tiger, he sat down on a patch of grass, panting heavily. Suddenly, he heard a voice behind him.

"You okay, little guy?"

It was a kind and friendly wolf named Rolf. Rolf had seen everything from the bushes, and he was impressed by the rabbit's agility. Thumper told Rolf about his encounter with Rajah, and the wolf promised to keep an eye out for the tiger. From that day on, Thumper and Rolf became fast friends, and they spent their days exploring the forest and having adventures.

Meanwhile, Rajah had grown bored of the usual prey in the forest. He wanted a bigger challenge, something that would prove his dominance. He decided to go after the most dangerous animal in the forest - a giant, ferocious bear named Grizzly.

Grizzly was known to be fierce, and he had a reputation for taking down any predator who dared to mess with him. But Rajah was not afraid. He snuck up behind Grizzly and pounced. The bear was taken by surprise, but he didn't back down. Instead, he roared and charged at Rajah.

The two fought for hours, tearing through the forest and leaving destruction in their wake. The other animals watched from a safe distance, afraid to get involved. Finally, Rajah managed to land a fatal blow to Grizzly's neck, and the bear fell to the ground, lifeless.

The forest animals mourned Grizzly's death, and they vowed to never forget his bravery. Thumper and Rolf were particularly sad, as they had known the bear for a long time. They decided to hold a memorial service for Grizzly, and they invited all the creatures of the forest to come and pay their respects.

As they were preparing for the service, they heard a loud commotion in the distance. It was Rajah, who had come to disrupt the ceremony. The tiger was angry that the animals were honoring a creature he had defeated, and he wanted to show them who was boss.

Thumper and Rolf stood up to Rajah, telling him that Grizzly was a hero and deserved to be remembered. Rajah sneered and said that he was the real hero, for he had defeated the most dangerous animal in the forest. The animals looked at each other, unsure of what to do.

Just then, a wise old owl named Hootie flew down from a nearby tree. Hootie was known for his wisdom, and the animals looked to him for guidance. Hootie listened to both sides of the argument and then spoke.

"Rajah, you may have defeated Grizzly, but that doesn't make you a hero. True heroes are those who protect others and do what's right, even when it's hard. Grizzly was one such hero, and so are Thumper and Rolf, who stood up to you today

 

The animals of the forest were impressed by Hootie's words, and they started to murmur in agreement. Rajah, however, was not pleased. He bared his teeth and growled at the owl. "I am the king of the jungle, and I demand respect!" he roared.

But Hootie was not intimidated. "Respect is earned, not demanded," he said calmly. "If you want the respect of the animals of this forest, you must prove yourself worthy of it."

Rajah looked around, his eyes searching for a way to prove his worthiness. And then he saw something that made him smile. It was a pack of wild dogs, led by a mean and vicious alpha named Fang. Rajah knew that Fang was feared by all the animals of the forest, and he decided to challenge the dog to a fight.

The other animals tried to dissuade Rajah from his plan, warning him that Fang was a ruthless killer who wouldn't hesitate to take him down. But Rajah was determined. He had something to prove, and he wouldn't back down.

So he went to Fang's territory, and he called him out. Fang emerged from the shadows, his eyes gleaming with a feral light. He looked at Rajah and sneered. "What do you want, tiger?"

"I want to prove that I am the strongest animal in the forest," Rajah said. "And I want to do it by defeating you."

Fang laughed. "You're out of your mind, tiger. I'm the alpha of this pack, and I've taken down animals twice your size. You don't stand a chance."

But Rajah wasn't afraid. He roared and charged at Fang, his claws extended. The two fought for what seemed like hours, tearing through the forest and leaving destruction in their wake. The other animals watched from a safe distance, afraid to get involved.

In the end, Rajah emerged victorious. He had defeated Fang and proved that he was the strongest animal in the forest. The other animals watched in awe as he strutted back to his territory, his head held high.

But even though Rajah had won the fight, he felt empty inside. He realized that he had been so focused on proving his strength that he had forgotten what it meant to be a true hero. He had hurt and killed other animals, and he had caused a lot of pain and suffering.

As he lay in his den that night, he thought about what Hootie had said. He realized that being a hero wasn't about being the strongest or the most feared. It was about doing what was right, even when it was hard. It was about protecting others and making the world a better place.

And so, Rajah decided to turn over a new leaf. He started to help the other animals of the forest, using his strength to protect them from danger. He became known as a hero, not because of his fighting skills, but because of his kindness and compassion.

Thumper and Rolf were particularly impressed by Rajah's transformation. They had seen the tiger at his worst, but now they saw him at his best. They became fast friends with him, and the three of them went on many adventures together.

In the end, the forest animals learned that heroes come in all shapes and sizes, and that true strength is measured not by physical prowess, but by the size of one's heart.
